Ah, back-to-school time, always an interesting transformation in schedule. It’s nice to be on a schedule; I think everyone really benefits from it. It’s also nice to see your kids learning and experiencing new things.
September marked a similar place in our CSI calendar, we are back to meetings, with lots of opportunity to learn and experience new things. The September chapter meeting was excellent! The arboretum is such a beautiful backdrop for a meeting. The tour was interesting and informative and the evening program was equally well done. Thank you to all who coordinated and participated. It takes a lot of effort to pull a meeting together. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated group within our Programs committee. They are always looking for help so if you want to get involved, contact Jim Schnack at 612-376-2054 or Nancy Gulliford at 952-935-6138.
The October meeting will be another great event. The topic is the “Creative Re-use of Historic Buildings”. The discussion will be based on the Midtown Exchange project. We will have three members of the construction team as presenters; the general contractor (Ryan Companies), the engineer (Construction Consulting and Inspections Inc), and the architect (Collaborative Design Group). The meeting will be held at the Semple Mansion on Franklin Avenue in south Minneapolis. I hope to see you there. Another exciting event coming in October is an educational session on “Sustainable Healthcare Design”. It is a joint meeting with AIA and the USGBC. The session is being held on October 25 at the University of Minnesota Continuing Education and Conference Center. More information on both those events is forthcoming.

As I have mentioned in the past, one of my jobs as President is to provide the chapter members with information. Communication is something that has always been a bit of a challenge for our chapter. We are so large and so active, it can be difficult to keep up with all o
ur activities. I want to encourage anyone that is interested in speaking to me about chapter activities and my duties surrounding them to please contact me, my door is always open. My contact information is 612-309-4373 or marthe.brock@basf.com. Thanks for your part in making this an amazing chapter.
