November Meeting

On Monday, November 13, 2006 the Minneapolis-St. Paul Chapter, CSI will present a lunch presentation on Proprietary Specifications: Hypotheticals. The presentation will focus on the state of proprietary specification law in Minnesota and a discuss a number of hypothetical situations surrounding proprietary specifications. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the legal issues surrounding proprietary specifications from all view points (architect, specifications writer, contractor, etc.).

The presenters for the program are:

Robert Smith, Attorney at Law, Leonard, Street, and Dienard
Selected in 2005 as a "Rising Star" in the construction law field by his peers, and noted in Minnesota Law & Politics magazine, Robert represents contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, owners, and design professionals in a wide variety of construction-related matters. Robert is currently a member of the American Bar Association - Forum on the Construction Industry; Minnesota State Bar Association - Construction Section; and Hennepin County Bar Association.

Mary Schwind, Attorney at Law, Leonard, Street, and Dienard
With significant experience representing members of the construction industry who are contracting with American Indian tribes for construction and design services, Mary brings a unique perspective of the business to the discussion of proprietary specifications. She also has experience in matters of bid protests, mechanic's lien actions, and defective design and construction claims. Mary is currently a member of the American Bar Association - Public Contracts Section and Forum on the Construction Industry; Minnesota State Bar Associate - Construction Law Section; Hennepin County Bar Association; Ramsey County Bar Association; Minnesota American Indian Bar Association; and Minnesota Women Lawyers.
