KKE’s Jack Amdal First in State to Earn ICSC Certification

Minneapolis, MN -- Jack Amdal, principal and manager of KKE Architects’ Commercial Development business unit, is the first in Minnesota to earn professional certification from the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). An architect with more than 25 years of experience, Amdal joins just 178 professionals worldwide to receive this designation.

ICSC launched its “Certified Development, Design and Construction Professional” (CDP) program in 2007 to elevate and evaluate professional standards in fields of shopping center development, design and construction. "This first class of CDP designees represents highly skilled and experienced professionals," said Gordon T. Greeby, Jr., CDP, PE, co-chairman of the ICSC CDP Admissions and Governing Committee.

ICSC represents more than 70,000 members in 92 countries. ICSC CDP candidates must be actively engaged in the industry for at least five years before taking the written examination. Once the CDP designation has been achieved, a mandatory program of continuing education must be pursued to maintain the designation.

During the past two decades, Amdal, AIA, CDP, has contributed to such award-winning Minnesota retail projects as Arbor Lakes and The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes in Maple Grove, 1313 Wayzata Blvd. in Wayzata, Plymouth Station in Plymouth and Tamarak Village in Woodbury, as well as other shopping centers across the Midwest. He currently is working on Aurora Plaza in Chaska, Minn.; Pinnacle Village Shoppes in Bemidji, Minn.; and River Station in Altoona, Wis.

In addition to his involvement with ICSC, Amdal is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), a board member for the Minnesota Shopping Center Association (MSCA) and a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP). He serves as a city council member for the City of Wayzata and served on the planning commission for 10 years and is a past president of the Wayzata Historical Society.

Amdal is an alumnus of North Dakota State University and recently presented the first annual KKE Vision Award to two students at NDSU’s Department of Architecture and Landscape Architecture.
