Paul Hegre, CSI, P.E.
We hear a lot these days about business professionals going back to school. Often, the objective is to advance in your field, for personal growth, or to completely change your career path. Well, Paul is an example of a success story for the latter.
Paul grew up learning the carpentry trade. He began his professional career as a carpenter and homebuilder. He was in his thirties when he decided to tackle the monumental task of acquiring his engineering degree while still in the workforce. This native of Fertile Minnesota went back to the books gradually. He started part-time and, eventually, went back to school full time while still working to pay the bills. With his wife, DeLynn, by him through it all, Paul graduated from I.T. at the University of Minnesota. He has since earned his P.E. Nice work, Paul!
Back in Fertile, while building homes, this ambitious CSI’er also coached the high school wrestling team. Go Falcons! Today, Paul enjoys his Saturday morning golf with friends and cycling whenever he can. Paul and DeLynn celebrated their Fifteenth Wedding Anniversary this past September.
Paul now works at SEH Architects and Engineers focusing on Hydrology and Hydraulics. He has had the pleasure of working on dams and levies across the state including East Grand Forks and Fergus Falls. Even as we did this interview, Paul and his team were getting prepared for a busy summer including projects on the Red and Red Lake Rivers.
Please say hello to Paul the next time you see him at an event. It’s not often you get a chance to talk with an Engineer that give you advice on that next home improvement project and on shaving a few strokes off the golf score as well.
Welcome, Paul.
