April Chapter Meeting - April 14, 2008
"Precast Concrete Today"
Please join us for the April program at 317 on Rice Park in St. Paul, MN. We will be learning more about Precast Concrete Products. Our program will include presentations by Gage Brothers Concrete Products, Inc.
About the Program:
Precast concrete is as ancient a construction material as the Roman network of aqueducts, culverts and tunnels. Made with concrete cast in a reusable mold or "form" and cured in a controlled environment, precast is then transported to the construction site and lifted into place. Every day we experience a variety of modern architectural applications of precast technology including free-standing walls used for landscaping, soundproofing and security walls; architectural panels and pieces to clad building facades; and stormwater drainage, water and sewage pipes and tunnels.
About the Speaker:
Tom Kelley, President of Gage Brothers Concrete Products Incorporated, will lead a program focusing on new techniques and products utilized in the manufacture of architectural and structural precast components. Tom is a registered Professional Engineer and has been employed in the design, sales and estimating of precast for 28 years. Among his credits are past PCI Zone 3 Director, past PCI National Board Member, and past AGC Associate Division President. He is currently a member of the Architectural Services Committee which has recently completed the new PCI Handbook.
