Terry Nali, CSI
One of the newest members of CSI’s Minneapolis-St. Paul Chapter is also one of the most experienced members of the region’s flooring installation industry.
Terry Nali is the coordinator of INSTALL Twin Cities. INSTALL is the floor covering industry’s only mills- and manufacturer-endorsed training program for residential, commercial and institutional floor covering installers throughout the United States and Canada.
INSTALL is an acronym for the International Standards and Training Alliance. It is steered by an International Labor-Management Committee for the Floor Covering Industry and is supported by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. This committee partners with 37 of flooring mills and manufacturers, who offer input for the INSTALL curriculum, so that what is being taught reflects current labor needs in the flooring industry. INSTALL Twin Cities is the local affiliate of the international INSTALL program.
On an international level, Mr. Nali is a member of the INSTALL Labor-Management Committee and holds the position of secretary. Locally, he is a field agent for the Lakes & Plains Regional Council, Local 596, as well as the Local’s financial secretary, fringe fund trustee, Council delegate, and Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee member.
Terry’s local flooring experienced is founded in hands-on work with Twin Town Carpet, where he worked for more than a decade. He then moved to Shaw Contract Flooring for 15 years, becoming a superintendent and estimator. He joined INSTALL Twin Cities in 1999.
“The best flooring product in the world won’t work if it’s not installed properly,” Terry said. “What I like about INSTALL Twin Cities is that it works so closely with mills and manufacturers. Whenever a new product, technique or tool is introduced, we’re first in l
ine to teach it to our installers. The winner is the end user, because they constantly get the best-trained labor on their job site.”
Mr. Nali resides in Mound, MN with his wife, Jane. They have two sons, Erik and Nicholas. His down time is spent on Lake Minnetonka, or doing renovation projects on the family’s home. To contact Terry Nali, dial 651-636-0091 or email him at tnali@mncarpenter.org. |
